In this type the real plant is diploid and it produces gametes by meiosis.These haploid gametes fuse and produce the diploid zygote, which after mitosis, produces the diploid plant again. Here the diploid phase is very elaborate while haploid phase is insignificant and limited to only haploid gametes.
This kind of life cycle is called diplontic type which is exhibited by plants like Fucus, Sargassum, diatoms and certain members of siphonales.
